What is digital money?

Digital money is electronic currency, commonly known as crypto currency, which has the potential to be used as an alternative money to those that we use in everyday life (such as the British Pound, Euro or US Dollar) Such digital currencies usually have quick processing times for transfers, often with minimal fees, and can be used for anonymous transactions. Banks are not involved as you trade with peers and through payment processor third parties.

Free Digital Money Sites

Bitcoin is the most well known digital currency due to its headline-making high value on money exchanges (currently at around US$1000 for 1 Bitcoin in April 2017). It's been around since 2009. There are an increasing number of other digital currencies too, such as Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Dash and Monero, each with its own specific features and advantages. Bitcoin still remains the major player however

You can purchase any of these directly through certain money exchanges, but there are also sites which give away small amounts of digital money such as Bitcoin for free, which is a good way to start getting involved and learning about these currencies. We're building a list of these free crypto currency sites (crypto currency is commonly used term that basically refers to digital currency), focusing on those that appear more reliable (which have paid out to us). This list starts below

For some of these sites you might need to open a digital wallet containing a unique address for each digital currency that you'd like to collect. These can be opened and maintained online or offline and you can open as many as you wish. You can open wallets with currency specific sites like Blockchain.info (for a Bitcoin wallet address) or alternatively money exchange sites like Bleutrade and Bittrex which allow you to open various currency wallets, and also allow you to trade between different digital currencies.

If you are likely to be accumulating (buying, exchanging and investing in) a large amount of any digital currency you must consider storing your wallet offline or on your own computer. This involves a download and can take a little time, but it is safer to keep your money away from online exchanges and worth this time and effort.

However, here we're mainly interested in receiving small amounts of digital money for free so we are only using online wallets at present which are very easy to open and use.

You'll be provided with a unique wallet address (a unique combination of letters and numbers) for each currency wallet that you open. It is this address that you will need to use when receiving and earning free digital coins.

As this is a relatively new digital area we recommend that you also do the following prior to signing up to any sites that claim to give away free digital money such as Bitcoin:
1 - open a separate email account specifically for sites that give away digital money for free or for 'tasks'.
2 - there will be minimum payment thresholds and in many cases it is best to cash out as soon as you reach these.
3 - there are a lot of sites out there which claim to give away free digital currency, but be careful when using them. If the offer looks too good to be true it probably is. Remmeber how much 1 Bitcoin is worth. Most of these sites are ad-funded (not all) hence the free amounts they offer would normally be small, unless they run some kind of lottery.
4 - Saying all that, we try here to list the better and more reliable sites that have given us these free bitcoin or other digital currencies.

Free Bitcoin Sites

We've listed and reviewed some of the better free bitcoin sites that we have used or been told about. Remember we're talking small amounts (fractions of bitcoin are sometimes called 'satoshi' or just shown as fractions i.e. 0.00000199), but if you claim your free currency regularly, these amounts will add up and become more valuable.

Free Dogecoin Sites

These sites give away free Dogecoin:

Free Dogecoin

This is an easy to use site where you can receive Free Dogecoin simply by entering your Dogecoin address and correctly entering a capture. A random number is then generated which will link to the amount of free Dogecoin that will be added to your account with the site. You can play this simple game once each hour and there is a convenient timer which tells you when you can next receive free Dogecoin. There is also a separate game called 'Multiply Doge' on the site where you bet an amount of the Dogecoin in your site account to try and increase it by playing a simple higher/lower guessing game.
Payment is made directly to your Dogecoin address (wallet) which you can receive automatically each Sunday or request manually. We have received payment from this site.

Moon Dogecoin

Moon Dogecoin is a good site which rewards you with Dogecoin for entering your dogecoin address and a captcha. Once you register, your Moon Dogecoin account starts filling up, quite quickly initially but it slows down with time, until you make a claim. The longer you wait to claim the more you will be able to claim. You can claim a smaller amount every 5 minutes, or visit at less regular periods such as once or twice per day and claim the larger amount that would have built up while you were away. Your claims accumulate in your Moon Dogecoin account and the total is paid directly to your Dogecoin wallet each week on Saturday or Sunday, as long as your balance reaches the minimum threshold.

Free Litecoin Sites

These sites give away free Litecoin:

Moon Litecoin

Moon Litecoin is another nice little site which rewards you with small fractional amounts of Litecoin for entering your litecoin address and a captcha. Once you register, your Moon Litecoin account starts filling up, quite quickly initially but it slows down with time, until you make a claim. The longer you wait to claim the more you will be able to claim. You can claim a smaller amount every 5 minutes, or visit at less regular periods such as once or twice per day and claim the larger amount that would have built up while you were away. Your claims accumulate in your Moon Litecoin account and the total is paid directly to your litecoin wallet each week on Saturday or Sunday, as long as your balance reaches the minimum threshold.
